About the Club

Evening meetings

The club meets every Monday at 8.00pm in St Paul's Parish Centre (directions), apart from occasional outings in the local area. The evenings events vary to cater for a wide range of interests. Evenings include: guest speakers, competitions (see more below), practical evenings (e.g. model setups, macro, strobist lighting) and outings.

Outings

About once a month we go out for a shoot on Saturday or Sunday. (See programme for more outing info.)

Programme

The programme is located at www.offshoot.ie/club-programme. We like to encourage members to make suggestions on topics they'd like covered in the programme, so please feel free to add your ideas to the mix.

Competitions

There are two types of competition, formal and informal:

Formal Competitions

For the formal competitions entries consist of mounted prints. Each member's best score is recorded and used for the Photographer of the Year award. Formal competitions are held approximately monthly. Submissions are accepted the week prior to judging. See Official rules for further information on formal entries.

Informal Competitions

The informal competition submissions are either unmounted prints (about A4 size prints) or digital submissions. The winner choses the next topic and judges it.

Galleries

The website has member and group galleries. Often after outings we gather images in a gallery for the outing. There is also a club Flickr pool.

Comment & Critique

Members are encouraged to bring prints along to club meetings to share and discuss their work. There is also a critique thread on the forum, for those who prefer to critique on the web.(Accessible to registered members.)

Membership & Dues

Membership fee for 2009 is €50 (for the year or part thereof). New members can attend meetings as a guest member for up to three weeks while deciding on full membership. People of all photography levels are very welcome along. Full members receive a membership card with an ID (this ID is used for formal competition entries).

Our weekly dues are €3, payable for anyone who comes along.

Communication

As well as in-club announcements we have several means of communication:

• Weekly newsletter style update emails are circulated to all members.
• The website, www.offshoot.ie, features a forum and both member and club galleries.
