If only I knew all this last night!...the definitive guide that de-mist-ifies photographing moving water (waterfalls esp) - very comprehensive artricle (fully photo illustrated) in four parts.

Smashing article.

I love shooting waterfalls but am not very analytical in my thinking while out with my camera.

So I simply bracket exposure and shutter speed widely when taking shots of waterfalls. Exposure of white water can be tricky, and the degree of motion blur can then be selected after the fact.
