The woods were dark and wet … and so was Phoenix Park – very, very early on Thursday 18th October as a hardy handful of Offshoot snappers endeavoured to catch the stags and deer up to, well, you-know-what.
Under the chirpy and enthusiastic leadership of Mike Smith we waited in the dark listening to the bellows of the stags and the occasional clash of their antlers as they talked the talk and walked the walk. As glimmers of light started to appear the deer did their best to disappear. Should you stalk and follow or hide and wait?
As you can see from the posed shots above we didn’t capture any rutting or clashing but were still thrilled to be out and about in this great local, public setting watching the herds.
