Laytown is unique in the Irish racing calendar as it is the only race event run on a beach under the Rules of Racing.
It’s a once a year event and 8 members had access to the beach.
The only permanent building at Laytown is a block of toilets and other racegoers watch the action from an elevated field above the strand. The course is erected, the races run and then the course is dismantled all between the tides.
Pure magic
