All the elements you could ever want – speed, unpredictability, moving targets and add to this challenging lighting conditions.
The terrain was perfect- a small ground with easy proximity to the edge of the pitch – watch out for balls going out of bounds! – as close to the action as you could possibly get. There were some spectators but not so many that we could not easily move around and change position as the action moved around the pitch.
It became clear quite early on that Belvedere were the side to beat and the action played out mostly in their opposition’s half. There was great action at the try line giving superb opportunities to get some great shots of players piled up, mucky boots and great passes.
With the action moving with such speed and varying distances, it added nicely to the challenge of capturing the moments – and trying to avoid the lines man or coach walking past at just the wrong moment!
It was a great game to watch and to be up close and enjoy catching some great shots, albeit in low lighting conditions – de-noise will be our friend!.
It made for an entertaining couple of hours and a great atmosphere to boot.
