Club Outing – The Gap Adventure Park, Glencullen

14 March 2025 | Club Outings

On Saturday, 8th March, March 8th 2025, after a successful outing to the Gap Adventure Park, Glencullen, in February 2024, we decided to return for a second time.

High up overlooking Dublin, there are great views to be had and it is also part of the Wicklow way, so some nice walks in the area.

10 members joined, on a what was initially a bit of wet morning, but it soon cleared to become quite warm and sunny.

Expectations were high and we weren’t disappointed.

A few members managed to bag a lift up to the mid-point of the bike trails, in the van with the riders, while most followed the walking trail up, about a 15 minute walk.

It was busy with a women’s beginner and advanced groups on the circuit and many other regulars as well. Members dotted themselves along the course at different points, availing of great shots of bikes taking flight as they came over jumps and turns with front wheels twisting in spectacular fashion mid-air.

The course is partially forested and so there are all the photography challenges that we love available – low light, bright light, fast moving subjects often in dark colours, coming into the scene fairly quietly so you are kept on your toes!

With the variety of backdrops along the course, from trees to the views of Dublin, we are sure to have a great sample of shots from the morning.

The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and the riders seemed to enjoy having their performance captured. After a few fun hours, we called it quits at lunchtime – along with all the drivers and riders it seemed! So we opted to skip that all important cuppa due to the queue at the rather nice on-site cafe and race home to watch Ireland sadly lose to France in the Rugby…..

A great morning – we will be return again no doubt!
