While Howth may be a wonderful sunset location in Summer, it is not so in Winter! Having checked out the area above the Bailey Lighthouse recently and discovered that it was unsuitable for a winter sunset shoot, we decided the harbour was a better bet!
However, at the harbour, the sun dips below the headland well before sunset ( 1+ hours) meaning that from the harbour it’s not possible to see either the sun setting nor get any reflected light from the setting sun!!
As luck would have it the rain clouds descended so we wouldn’t have got a sunset anyway!
Despite the challenges everyone endeavoured to get some images – it’s called ‘making a silk purse out of a sow’s ear’ or in this case ‘a photograph’ despite really bad light! Well done to all of you!
