On Thursday 6th September 7 members ventured on to the beach to watch the 150th running of the Laytown Races. Racing on the beach at Laytown takes place just once every year and the spectacle draws crowds from all over the world.
It is the only racing event run on a beach under the Rules of Racing. As the tide recedes in the morning of race day, the race course is quickly set up allowing for six races. The majority of racegoers watch the action from an elevated field above the strand but we were granted press access to all areas.
The weather was perfect for photography and a great day was had by all.
