In contrast, it was a sunny crisp day when 12 members (including 2 new people) assembled at The Hellfire Club carpark. We walked the short distance to the Massey Wood entrance and agreed we would rendezvous there in an hour and a half.
Most of the trees were bare but there was a lovely gold and orange carpet on the ground. People happily wandered amongst the trees, some taking out tripods while others tried ICM. A dogwalker appeared with a pack of 8 dogs clearly enjoying their regular morning saunter. They were followed a short while later by a rider on a white horse.
Massey Wood has a small river, stone bridge, small derelict (possibly) church, ice house, old garden walls and a good selection of beautiful trees. On this particular day two red squirrels were spotted (or possibly the same one twice).
We finished off a very enjoyable morning with very tasty coffee and scones.
