On Tuesday 12 June 5 members attended the mid-week outing. Our tour guide was Peter who provided a comprehensive history of the castle from its construction commissioned by Adam Loftus in 1583 to the present day.
Much of the castle has been restored since the OPW took it over but the dining room has been left unrestored to demonstrate the changes that have taken place over the centuries.
The tour lasted just over an hour & we were then free to take whatever photographs we wanted before we visited the adjoining cafe for lunch.
If others from the club are interested in visiting, they will always be welcome.
