Our second outing on 16th January took place on a crispy Tuesday morning when 19 members, including some new ones, gathered for our photo trip to Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, the National Cathedral of the Church of Ireland.
The present building is steeped in history and dates from 1220. Over the centuries, the Cathedral has experienced and survived wars, revolutions and a reformation. The beautiful interior is a photographer’s dream, with ornate ceilings, stained glass windows, carved artifacts and a beautiful mosaic floor.
A very special word of thanks to Sylvia Hick who negotiated the visit and as a result, we were allowed to use tripods and have exclusive access to the Choir area.
Afterwards, a large group enjoyed the warmth and relaxing environment of the nearby Radisson Blu Hotel for some hot beverages and scones and a chance to catch up on news with friends.
