On 22nd April 5 members crossed the Irish Sea to Gigrin Farm in Wales where Red Kites are fed every day at 3pm. These are wild birds lured into a location and watching them swarm, swoop, feed, (and fend off the crows) is a fantastic experience.
The nearby Elan Valley dams and landscape are astounding, I think we’d all go back again with more prep to shoot landscapes.
It was so, so cold as we waited for the planes on the Mach Loop but well worth the climb to see jet fighters pass at 450knots/800+kph and at your eye level (particularly when the pilot waved at us as he passed!).
A great trip highly recommended to all club members.
