This Monday 11th June is hand-in date for the next competition.

We also have Podge Kelly as our guest speaker. Podge is a highly regarded professional photographer and lighting expert who also has a great reputation for workshops and training. Podge was the presenter of a TV series on digital photography, which was the inspiration to many current established names.

Podge has agreed to present to us a typical studio shoot. He will use studio lights and strobes, combined with various backdrops and lighting accessories. Initially, he will introduce us to studio lighting and a typical studio set up. Then he will engage with a model to create and explain a number of typical high key and low key scenarios. We might have time for a short Q & A towards the end.

It is the intention to link Podge’s camera to the projector, so we can see immediately the results of his shots. Thumbs up if we get all this to work on the night. This is a session not to be missed.

OffShoot 2018 Member's Exhibition (8th May - 18th June)

If you haven’t yet got to our member's image exhibition, remember it will be in Deansgrange Library until 18th June. Some great pictures to be seen, showcasing the variety of talent in the club.

‘An Irish Summer’ – Although this competition is in September we may be in the middle of summer, who knows. Lots of opportunities in July and August to capture the essence of an Irish summer. Monochrome makes for more drama.

The Societies of Photographers Competitions

SINWP Bird Photographer of the Year Competition 2018 is now open for entries.

OffShoot Photography Society (South Dublin) Members are encouraged to enter this exciting photo competition and help raise vital funds for The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB).

The winner of the competition will win over £250 worth of photographic prizes, as well as the prestigious SINWP Bird Photographer of the Year Trophy and Certificate.

The Bird Photographer of the Year in aid of RSPB competition is proudly supported by Aaduki Multimedia Insurance, PermaJet, The Societies of Photographers and .photo domains.

Exhibitions & Events

FIAP Distinction Holders Exhibition – June 9th – June 30th

The International Federation of Photographic Art is the representative body of Photographic Art. It is active worldwide. Its purpose is the promotion of photographic art in all its aspects and through all kinds of photographic events. It is the only such body recognised by UNESCO.

One way that this the promotion of photographic art is achieved is by the awarding of distinctions to photographers. These are highly appreciated and sought after by photographers.

FIAP awards its distinctions to photographers whose work shows faultless and excellent technique and displays a high artistic level.

This exhibition shows images from each photographer who has been awarded a distinction this year. These range for Artist (AFIAP), through Excellence (EFIAP) and the different levels of EFIAP – from Bronze through to Diamond/1.

This is the first exhibition of its type to be held in Ireland. It has been arranged by the
Irish Photographic Federation. The Dublin Camera Club (which is a FIAP Exhibition Centre) is honoured to host it in the Eddie Chandler Gallery. Open each Saturday from 11am to 5pm.

BIG DAY 2018

Big Day @ The Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin – 07/10/2018

For the first time, Ireland has an event of truly international standards dedicated to landscape photography. The IrishLight team have again put together a star-studded line up of speakers that can all be seen in one day in the beautiful surroundings of The Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire.

If your looking for inspiration and new ideas the Big Day is an amazing chance to see this incredible line-up of speakers all under one roof. The Big Day is also a great chance to talk shop with our partners. Camera’s, filters, framing, papers for printing.
