OffShoot Photography Society We believe that the image is everything!

25th January 2020

News

Next Monday Night.

Richard Byrne and Steve Crozier will share some tips and techniques for shooting with studio type lights.

The aim isn’t to teach you how to “do lighting”, more to give some good places to start with etc. We will also share some ideas on posing models and how to communicate with them.

Getting the best images when shooting models is generally as much about communication and posing as it is ideas and lighting.

(No need to bring cameras for this presentation).

Next Competition.

The hand-in for our next competition is the 27th of January. Further details later in this newsletter and in an email sent by David Sisk on 15th of January.

Photography Exhibition: Irish Butterflies, by Robbie O’Leary AIPF

The Mill Theatre, Dundrum (http://www.milltheatre.ie/exhibition/robbie-oleary-photography-exhibition/)

The exhibition will run from February 7th to April 15th 2020

What is this life if, full of care,

We have no time to stand and stare…..

The words of poet WH Davies best explain the purpose of this exhibition:  images of Irish butterflies. It offers a unique opportunity to come and admire the delicate beauty of these colourful native creatures and to wonder at the detailed and intricate patterns that set them apart as true symbols of the richness and fragility of our natural heritage. Symbols too of the Irish summer:  short-lived and unpredictable but to be savoured and appreciated, many of our butterfly species are increasingly threatened by climate change, urbanisation and habitat destruction.
