Congratulations to Robbie O’Leary on winning a Bronze Medal in the Invertebrates section of the IPF Nature Photographer of the Year.
Late Notice.
Rugby trip to Trinity cancelled, "due to the adverse weather conditions forecast".
Next Monday Night
We are going to try something new on Monday night. After the usual announcements, we plan to show the film “Finding Vivian Maier”. This is an effort to experiment with different activities on Monday nights.
“A documentary on the late Vivian Maier, a nanny whose previously unknown cache of 100,000 photographs earned her a posthumous reputation as one of the most accomplished street photographers.”
We will have a very brief Q & A session after the film, just to get a few reactions to it. We will also arrange a slot another evening to have a quick discussion if it is worth doing something similar in future (eg once a year, once in spring, autumn, never).
Last Monday Night.
This is an extract from a note I got from Squarespace, following our session last Monday. I will circulate the full note during the week and follow up in case anyone wishes to visit their offices, etc...
"Many thanks for hosting us at your club’s meetings yesterday. We truly enjoyed presenting to the members, they were a very engaging team with wonderful questions. It made the experience even better for us. We hope they felt encouraged and inspired to make it real! (no pun intended).
Here is the link to the micro site we created for the members offshootphotography.squarespace.com (password: offshoot). They can view the template store from there, get tips on image formatting and reach out to our support team. Like Jorge mentioned last night, anyone can create a free 14 day trial and play around with the platform, our support team is free and available to anyone for any questions they may have.
We are happy to extend an invitation to club members if they’d like to visit our office for a more hands-on workshop style session."
Monday 16th March
No meeting due to St. Patricks Day holiday on the 17th March.
Annual Exhibition
The OffShoot Exhibition will once again be in Deans Grange Library from 5th May until 14th June. This excellent opportunity to show the fruits of our photographic labours to the world, and gain good publicity for the Club, is one which we should all avail of if possible.
The exhibition is open to ALL members, it is not competitive, and is a great chance to have one or two of our favourite images expertly printed and framed for our walls at home, or for a gift. The cost per picture in a 21” X 17” white frame is €30, which is a very heavily discounted price for the exhibition only. Each member may submit up to two images for the exhibition and we guarantee to display at least one, depending on the number of entries.
When choosing your images please be mindful that the exhibition is in a family library.
Like last year our plan is to exhibit 100 images, but as space limitations restrict us to displaying only 50 images at a time, we shall again show them in two batches, with the change taking place after three weeks.
Images may be submitted from now up to 12th April.
Please use the following format for your image file name:-- exhibition.your name.title,
You may submit your images by going to: https://www.dropbox.com/request/9bNDicu71JFLXL1W4eHx
There really is no prize for being last, so please please submit your images early to ensure you are not disappointed, as our limit is 100 images.
There will be a party in the Grange pub across the road on the night of the opening and all members and guests will be welcome.
If you have any queries, please speak to Dave or Tony.
We're looking forward to receiving your images
