Last Monday Night
Last Monday we were treated to a presentation by David Keep on “Sports Images with Impact” describing his process driven approach to producing remarkable sports shots aimed at winning competitions.
Next Monday Night
On Monday 30 August our meeting moves from virtual to reality – a chance to catch up with friends, make new friends and have a natter about anything really. We may even get a chance to take some photographs. This, however, is a real meeting with the chat thrown in!
Just a few details:
1. We’ll meet in Grand Canal Square by the Bord Gais Theatre
2. The idea is to meet at 18.30 for the Golden Hour which starts at 19.31
3. Sunset is at 20.18 directly west up the Liffey
4. The Blue Hour ends at 20.55
5. High Tide is at 17.45 so there will be plenty of water.
Now if you don’t under stand the Golden Hour and Blue Hours come along and find out.
It has been so long since we have all been together; new members have joined and we need to greet you properly. This is a real chance before winter sets in to have an opportunity to put faces on names and have a real, rather than a virtual, chat. Please join us.
Protocol for this Meeting
As you know we can now have almost no limit on the numbers which can gather outside but we are still operating a registration system to ensure a record for contact tracing in the event that a member contracts Covid 19.
1. Members must pre-register on the club website. Please go to https://www.offshoot.ie/event/club-meeting-outing-sunset-grand-canal-dock/
2. Please don’t just turn up on the day!
3. We ask no member should attend if feeling unwell, have any symptoms of Covid 19 or have been in contact with a person suffering from Covid 19 within the previous 2 weeks.
4. Please let us know if you wish to cancel your registration at info@offshoot.ie
5. Members should observe social distancing and stay 2 metres apart on all club outings
6. Members should follow the HSE social etiquette in regard to coughing and sneezing
7. It is recommended that members carry a small bottle of sanitiser in their backpack.
8. Cameras and camera equipment should not be shared with other members during outings
9. It is recommended that members travel individually to the outing meeting point.
10. There will be no meet-up for socialising after club outings so members are advised to carry a drink and a snack in their backpack.
The committee is grateful for your cooperation in adhering to this protocol.
Exhibition
Emily Gallagher and Sara Hanley have volunteered to organise our next Exhibition.
If anyone else would like to join Emily and Sara in this prestigious task please email exhibition@offshoot.ie.
We look forward to publishing more details about this as their planning progresses.
IPF National Shield Autumn 2021
While we do not have an exact date for the 2021 National Shield due to the pandemic, it is time to start gathering the images on behalf of the club.
So members are now asked to gather images together for submission. A member can enter 5 colour images and 5 mono images for consideration.
Please look back over your current and back catalogue to choose your images. The images can be from any time period and any genre.
After the high standard set at the 2021 Club Championships, we look forward to seeing your submission.

Shoot With Me – Autumn 2021 Programme
To set the SWM Autumn Programme on the road we have once again sent a request to club members asking for volunteers to lead our twelve Shoot With Me groups. As always, we anticipate a varied selection of topics and look forward to receiving replies from those willing to lead a group and hearing an outline of your chosen “theme”.
If you have not received an email asking if you are prepared to volunteer to lead one of the groups please contact:
