Next Monday Night – The Summer Barbeque
The Summer BBQ is scheduled for 8pm on the 13th June at the National Yacht Club in Dun Laoghaire.
If you have not yet let us know and are going to attend please let us know by email at secretary@offshoot.ie.
Our Club Exhibition
The Annual Club Exhibition returns this year and will be held in the DLR Lexicon over 6 weeks commencing 12th July 2022.
Thank you to all who have submitted their images, we have had a wonderful response with a fantastic selection of images.
Thank you to everyone who has paid for their images so far, it is appreciated.
A launch party has been booked for the first night of the exhibition (12th July) at the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire – so please put that date in your calendar!
The next Club Competition – “People in Images”
There has been a late change to the competition as the meeting on the 20th June when the hand in of printed images was due is virtual one as the speaker is overseas.
This means that the competition has to be changed to a digital format via Zoom rather than printed similar to recent competitions.
The deadline for all entries is now extended to Sunday 19th June.
The theme of our next Club Competition is People in Images which you can interpret any way you like as long as there is a person or people in the image. The person/people don’t have to be the subject but can be there for scale, perspective or of course the main subject. Images can be portraits, street, architecture, landscape, mono or colour – it is up to you to have fun with the theme!
For Level 2 and Level 3 To make up for the last minute change and to encourage more entries the 35 and 50 mm focal length for Levels 2 and 3 is now a suggestion rather than a requirement.
For all levels, to encourage continuous improvement and to get members out taking photos, all images should have been taken within the last year.
As usual please save your images in JPEG format and name them with your Level Number, Membership Number and Image Title:
L2-001-Image title.jpg
This is a printed competition – so hand in will be on Monday 20 June at the club (school)- files to Steve for printing no later than 13 June (link will be published later).
The judging will be on Monday 27 June and the judge is Michelle La Grue from Malahide Camera Club (https://www.michellelagruephotography.com/)
The Theme of the Week
This week's theme is Shiny or Shining. So any shiny subject or images containing shiny objects or objects that shine like bulbs, candles, lighthouses etc. qualify. One of the problems with shiny objects is controlling glare while showing the reflective quality of the object. see tips and ideas below.
