Annual General Meeting on 11th December 2023
The 2023 AGM was held in the school last Monday. At that meeting, the following officers were appointed for 2024. Per the constitution the following positions are mandatory elected roles:
Chair: Emily Gallagher
Secretary: Andy Quinlan
Treasurer: Nigel Leyland
Competitions Secretary: Jean Clarke
The constitution allows for additional positions to be appointed at the committee meeting following the AGM. The following members were thus appointed:
Outings: Eithne O’Leary
Shoot With Me: Pat Divilly
IT/Communications: Ian Gemmell
Membership: Deirdre Irwin
2024 Photo Challenge: Gerry Donovan
We offer all members of the committee and sub-committees our best wishes and thanks. It would be remiss not to express our sincere thanks to all those who have stepped down. Their service and their time, so freely given for the benefit of all members, is appreciated by all and a lantern of excellence that we all seek to emulate.

Would You Consider Helping on a Committee?
The constitution also permits the committee to create and co-opt members of the Society into sub-committees. Why is this important? In the past few newsletters, we have beseeched you to consider getting involved.
OffShoot is our club, and you can help influence how things happen. Like every social club, OffShoot doesn’t run on fresh air, and we always need new blood to keep things ticking over.
So, if you would like to help out, please do reach out to secretary@offshoot.ie, and your offer, however small, will be most welcome.
Shoot With Me Success Story
The Shoot With Me Showcase sessions on 27th November and 4th December illustrated beyond any words the extent of the talent amongst our members. That talent was expressed in some superb images and demonstrated, once again, the enjoyment by the members of the Shoot With Me teams in their participation. Congratulations to one and all!
The IPF National Shield Competition where Offshoot came joint second in the colour category, fifth in the mono category, and fifth overall is a clear demonstration of that talent.
The Shoot With Me concept, unique to Offshoot, is always popular and never fails to bring members together for both photographic excellence and the ‘craic’. We should also record a special thanks to all the team leaders and especially to Pat Divilly who, once again, coordinated a very successful programme.
So now it's time to start thinking about our SWM projects for the Spring programme in 2024 and we need, above all, leaders for the teams. Is there a project you would like to try (experience is not necessary) or a pet subject you would like to share with others? If there is, please contact Pat Divilly at swm@offshoot.ie. You can be assured that you will be supported and helped.
Christmas Party – 18th December
Next Monday will be the closing of the 2023 calendar and our Christmas Party will be held in the Horse and Hound, Cabinteely, on Monday 18th December – another important date for your calendar. Come along and enjoy yourselves.
This final event of 2023 is NOT an excuse to put away your camera. Don’t forget that you have to have images to display for the first meeting of 2024 on Monday 8th January. |
