Next Monday – SWM Showcase 1
Next Monday evening, we have the first of our two SWM Showcases. It is always an interesting evening, so come along and get inspired by the projects.
Update on the Club Exhibition
The exhibition will remain in place in Deansgrange library until the 31st of May. Emily has the images that have been taken down and will arrange for authors to collect their images at the end of the exhibition.
Final note: Would members who have not yet paid for their exhibition prints please do so as soon as possible.
IPF Competition
Thank you to everyone who submitted the fantastic images for the competition and to Matt O'Brien and his team who did a superb job in selecting the competition entries. Sadly, we didn't do all that well this time, but, there is always the next time.
If you had an image in the IPF Competition, we would like to reunite them with their photographers. Please collect it from the club.
Outing to Donadea Forest Park & Castle – 25 May
Donadea Forest Park in Kildare includes the remains of Donadea Castle, the former home of the Aylmer family until 1935. It was built circa 1773 and was deroofed in the 1950s. Now it is derelict and overgrown.
Within the park there are many other historical features including St. Peter’s church, an ice house and boat house and walled gardens. There is also a 9/11 Memorial consisting of a scaled replica of the twin towers carved in limestone, and the small lake is home to a number of bird species.
Parking is €5 payable by card/tap only, at the barrier as you enter the carpark. There is also a small coffeeshop on site with outdoor seating.
The Outings Committee are proposing that members meet at 10.00am in the museum carpark.

National Gallery
There is a small but interesting collection of photographs of mostly Dublin based images in the Print room of the National gallery. Some big international names in Photography are represented.
Malahide Camera Club Members
Linda Hanlon and Maria MC Grane members of Malahide Camera Club, have created a portrait photography exhibition currently on display in the Central Bank, North Quay ( not Dame Street) Dublin, open Monday to Friday until May 29th 10.00 -16.00
The portrait collection is a celebrated of women of Ireland who have pushed through personal and professional glass ceilings including, though not exclusively career firsts. Women’s achievements often go unheralded and not immediately visible.
Biodiversity POTY Competition
The competition aims to encourage people to explore their natural surroundings, and hopefully discover new experiences and a new way of seeing nature. This year we also have an Ocean Category sponsored by Fair Seas, and we are looking forward to seeing the wildlife and habitats that underwater photographers encounter.
Photos must be taken in May of this year in Ireland, it’s islands, or it's oceans/seas. The competition is open to all amateur photographers, with prizes of up to €500, and is free to enter. The deadline for submissions is midnight on May 31st.
