Last Meeting
Thank you to everyone who came to the BBQ last Tuesday evening, it was a great opportunity for members to socialise together. The National Yacht Club are always incredibly hospitable to us.
Next Monday
Mike Smith will be presenting to us on the IPF and his experience of it on Monday evening in the school. It will be an incredibly informative evening and will help clarify what members can get from putting a Distinction Panel together and what the IPF does.
Rescheduled Dereliction Competition
The new date for the rescheduled Dereliction competition is the second of September, which will be our first night back in the school after the Summer schedule.
Please Collect Your Exhibition and IPF Prints
Most of you know our exhibition at Deansgrange Library ended on 31 May. It was very well received, with many compliments from members of the public and library staff.
If you haven’t already done so, please come and collect your prints or arrange for someone to take them on your behalf.
Exhibition Book Update
The book of images from the exhibition is now available. The price will be €35 per copy with €5 per copy donated to Lauralynn, our adopted charity.
Summer Outdoor Meeting Schedule
Rather than having meetings in the school over the Summer, we meet up on Monday evenings for photowalks. These meetings will run from the 8th of July 8th until the 26th of August.
8th July 8pm - Poolbeg Lighthouse organised by Emily. 15th July - Killiney Hill Sunset stroll organised by Pat Divilly. 22nd July - Walk on the Westside (West pier, Dun Laoghaire) organised by Gerry Donovan. 29th July - TBC. 5th August - Bank Holiday - no meeting. 12th August - Hawk Cliff organised by Ian Gemmell. 19th August - TBC. 26th August - TBC. 2nd September - Autumn schedule starts in the school.

ExifTool is a powerful free open-source program, a versatile tool for manipulating metadata within various file types, including image, audio, and video files.
Its capabilities extend to both reading and editing metadata, making it an indispensable tool for digital professionals.
It is designed by Phil Harvey of Queen’s University Toronto who has an M.Sc in nuclear physics.
ExifTool is used by police forces around the world to check the validity of Images on the internet etc. where images may not be the copyright of the user.
Andy started writing a Graphic User Interface (GUI) for ExifTool in about 2004 and continued to expand its options until 2022, when he ended his website.
His GUI program covers approximately 40% of ExifTool's capabilities.
ExifTool is continually updated to cover new Camera equipment and other digital equipment at least once every month.
Andy wants to make this MS Windows Operating System Program available to OffShoot members. If you are interested in getting this, please contact Andy at secretary@offshoot.ie.
ExploreLight Big Day
On the 15th of September, ExploreLight will be holding its annual Big Day in the Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire. It is always an informative day and a wonderful chance to hear from some superb both internationally and locally renowned photographers. If you would like to go, please let Emily know and she will pass your email details to Peter Gordon, who will contact you directly with a payment link. Peter has kindly offered a discount for group bookings.
Red Kite Outing to Wales
Some members are organising an outing to Gigrin Farm in Wales to see the Red Kite being fed and to do some landscape images in the Elan Valley. The proposed rescheduled plan is to leave by ferry on the morning of Saturday 31st August, and return on the evening of Sunday 1st September.
With the hotel stay, the cost is estimated at €300 excluding meals.
